“Her value is priceless. Her potential is limitless. She is a Queen.”

Hey guy, happy Sunday.
So I’m back again with an outfit post, this time partnered with Grass-Fields. Can I just say real quick, how much I freaking love this two piece set. The style which is very feminine and so me, it’s amazing high-quality but even more-so, the rich vibrant colours. If you didn’t know I am Nigerian, was born there and definitely African and proud, but honestly while wearing this outfit I felt like an absolute true Queen (for real). As they say give a girl the right outfit and she can conquer the world and I think I just found mine (pretty sure, they say that about shoes, but it doesn’t matter, lol).

Hey guys,
Hope you´re all doing well (I know, the typical intro) but I do genuinely mean it.
Since the weather has changed drastically (yesss, it’s no longer 40 degrees here in Madrid) and we’re now falling into a new season, I thought I´d kick-start with an outfit, featuring one my new favourite colours.
It´s weird now thinking about it, but the title of this post describes much more than just the look but also how I´ve been feeling lately. I’m not one to put my personally life out there or post when I’m feeling down but lately I’ve been in my feelings. It’s actually quite hard to describe because I’ve still been my positive opmistic self but in solitude. This is nothing close to depression but I’ve just been very unsocial the last couple of days, which is why you may have noticed I’ve also been relatively quiet on snapchat (billykissa), especially for someone who literally just moved to one of the liveliest city in Europe. I’d say its cultural shock and the constant moving but hopefully it shakes off soon.

On another note don´t forget to subscribe (subscription box on the right) to be notified of new posts and more!

1. When to Move In

This can vary depending on each person’s situation (studying in another country) but ideally I would advise freshers to move in 3-5 days before the first day. This can give you time to “settle in”; move-in, unpack and buy any additional home-ware; visit university campus; explore your new town/city.

2. Accommodation

If you’re just starting uni, I would highly advise you to live on campus if you can, as the advantages are numerous. Otherwise, make sure to get an accommodation close to your based campus. I repeat not necessarily your university, but the actual campus that a majority of your classes will be held in (there is a difference). This will make your life so much easier, convenient and will save you money.

3. Pack Light

This probably isn’t the first time you’ve heard this and won’t be the last, but pack light. Don’t bring everything and anything you own. If there’s an old jumper or skirt you haven’t worn for years, don’t bring them because you definitely won’t wear it. Be critical and only bring things you need, really like or wear often.

4. Shipping your Luggage

If you’re going oversea an option you can use to help ship you’re belongings is SendMyBag. They’re a worldwide luggage shipping service that operates at an affordable price. Click here for £5 off you’re first order.

5. Fresher’s Freebies

Starting university is nothing like secondary school – you don’t need to buy pens, folders, notebooks and usb beforehand. Wait until after fresher’s fair, which is usually at the first week. There you will be able to grab tons of university essentials for free, yes for free!

6. Making Friends

Believe it not, it is actually easier to make new friends during the first week of uni. Everyone is in the same position (new, shy and alone) and so is friendlier – utilize this and talk to everyone. Don’t be afraid to go up to random people and start a conversation. On another note, don’t think everyone you meet on your first week will be your friend forever.

7. Spending Money

Please don’t be one of those that spends recklessly as soon as the student grant comes in. No you don’t need to buy takeaway five times a week and get a taxi to class. Budget your money, plan how you will spend until the next payment and save some if you can.

8. Student discount

Now that you’re an uni student you can benefit from the numerous student’s discounts available, so sign up to Unidays – a website/app that gives you access to the best student discount online and in-store. There may also be some student’s discount cards (depending on your location) that you can get if you want (UK- NUS card, Madrid- DMM card)

9. Have Fun

Last but not least university is a time to learn, not just academically, but mentally too. So it’s okay to make mistakes, don’t be too hard on yourself. For a lot of people this is the time when they find themselves, find who they are and their purpose. Focus, work hard but also have fun, in the end everything will surely work out.

Hey guys, Happy New Month!
Wow, a lot has happened since I lasted posted. First thing is first, I’m no longer living in Ireland anymore. I know crazy right , it seems like just last week, I was talking about how excited I was to be back home but that chapter is over and I’m now in Spain. Madrid to be exact, I actually just moved over here, a few days ago and will be studying abroad for the next few months, which is very very exciting. As far as the whole studying abroad again, for the second year in a row goes, I will address all that in a separate blog post dedicated to back to school/uni and studying abroad, so if you’ve any qyestions what-so-ever related to that topic, do let me know so I can add it in.
The past few days itself have been complete mayhem (don’t leave things last minute) but I’m finally settling in. Let me just say this now, the weather here in Madrid is absolutely insane. The heat I’m currently experiencing is insane. It is 36 degrees right now and predicted to still increase. I know, wow!

Also, this post is in collaberation with Allysimperial (my sister) on YouTube. Click Here to check out her video, where she literally shares a bunch of bomb jumpsuits which are all very affordable from Aliexpress.

The hair I’m wearing is Freedom 2X Havana Twist in colour 33 (dark auburn). I actually received them from a friend in Nigeria but they can be purchased at most african beauty stores or check below for a direct link. I’ve on 6 packets of 22 inches.

I had my crochet done by Cynthia  who’s a great hair stylist based in Ireland (specialises in crochets braids & twists as well as jumbo cornrows – email: cyndysworld93@gmail.com). I used all 6 packs but since the actual type of extension I had was of a medium size (thickness) I would had prefer to use 7 packs to really create that full look. However, do note that most extensions are jumbo size so 6 packets should be sufficient. Also I chose not to do any singles at the front just so it would last longer.

As for styling I usually like to style it, half-up, half-down.

Pros:

  • Quick and easy to install (two hours).
  • Doesn’t break hair (if you choose not to do singles).
  • Very flattering and stylish.
  • Easy to achieve that full braids/twists look.
  • Very bouncy and lively.

Cons:

  • Tangles, Knots and gets caught in clothing/earrings very easily.
  • Not long lasting at all (after a week, tends to start looking rough)
  • Requires maintenance in order to wear for a good period of time.
  • Scalp tends to get quite dry and itchy.

Conclusion: Concept ★★★★★ (5 stars)| Hair Quality ★★ (2.5 stars)

Tips

  • To help maintain the havana twist extension, I run hair mousse (extra hold) through it every second day. This helps it hold it’s shape and revitalise it, removing that dry and dull appearance.
  • Make sure to moisturize your scalp daily with natural oils. I use Pure Essence – Hair Oil Blend.
  • To lay down my edges and help ensure the hair looks neat and clean I use Gorilla Snot Gel , which works wonders in holding down the edges  (even on natural hair).
